On May 13, 2012 at the Corpus Cordis Aureum induction ceremony during Emory Commencement Weekend, H. Dean Minor 38Ox 40C will be presented with the Judson C. Ward “Jake’s” Golden Heart Award by the Emory Alumni Association. Minor will be the award’s third recipient.
A strong proponent for annual giving, Minor has been a consistent donor since 1969 and is a long-term member of the Oxford Alumni Board and Board of Counselors. Minor has made a multi-generational impact on Oxford College and Emory University as a role model for service and giving. A retired teacher and World War II Army Air Corps veteran, Minor practiced law in the Atlanta area in private practice as well as for the Veteran’s Administration. A collection of his personal papers from World War II is available at MARBL. Minor’s work was also the subject of a previous exhibition of Emory alumni and the war in the Schatten Gallery.
The Jake’s Golden Heart award was established in May 2010 in honor of its namesake and first recipient who would have celebrated his 100th birthday on April 13. Dr. Judson “Jake” Ward 33C 36G demonstrated values of service, generosity of spirit, and loyalty to the University. Recipients of his namesake award must be eligible members of Corpus Cordis Aureum, comprising alumni who graduated 50 or more years ago from any of Emory’s school.
