Emory Alumni Chapter of Spain gathered for Emory Cares International Service Day 2012.

Our Emory Cares friends in Madrid sent us this note:

On Saturday November 17, 2012, the Emory Alumni Chapter of Spain held its annual Emory International Service Day project. Early on Saturday morning alumni and friends gathered with local junior high school students and other community volunteers to serve a hot breakfast to over 350 homeless people in downtown Madrid at the Comedor Ave María just off Plaza Jacinto Benavente. This shelter serves hot breakfasts six days a week and is run exclusively on a volunteer basis. The food shelter is part of the chapel, the “Capilla Ave María” which was built in 1611 and still operates today.

Emory Cares International Service Day presented a wonderful opportunity to give back in Madrid, Spain.

We want to thank the participants and event organizers who made this event possible. Attached are a few photos taken at the event.

 A Happy Thanksgiving to all.
